Surtheim Ascending
Imperial Scout's Report, June 33 A.R… Something strange sighted deep in the Eastern Deadlands; an object lay in the middle of a canyon surrounded by numerous grotesque, twisted trees and the minions of the Withered Aegis. Due to the distance, my fear of discovery and the swirling maelstrom overhead, I could not discern many details. I did not recognize the creatures, but they appeared to be undead as they walked with a strange gait. Nor could I make out the nature of the object itself, except that it was as black as night and was nearly as large as those who stood near it … One thing, however, was clear and that was that they were protecting it. It is certainly worthy of further investigation, though I advise extreme caution. Powerful enemies across Istaria have grown in power and cunning, but enterprising Gifted have begun to discover additional treasures and uses for the essences of these enemies. The result has been an increase in weapons and tools used by the Gifted to fight the Withered Aegis.Do not discount the increased cunning of these epic enemies, however, as they attempt to protect their treasures from the hands of the Gifted. Some, such as Surtheim, Fafnir the Defiler, Falgut the Slaver, and even the Son of Gigaroth have developed new strategies and strengths to use against their foes, rendering old strategies obsolete and vulnerable. As with all updates, there are lots of other "smaller changes", so consider having a look at the release notes. The developers always take time to tweak and fix things all over the world. Whether you are just starting on your journey in Istaria, or you are an experienced warrior of many years, the people of Istara need your help. Will you heed their call?
